A
symphony orchestra caters
to a wide range of musical
tastes. For the 2009-10
season, we believe that
we have done just that.
Our October performance,
“Ciao Italia” features
operatic excerpts sung
by four great soloists
as well as very colorful
music for the orchestra.
December brings “Hodie”
(This Day), a Christmas
cantata of immense emotional
appeal.
In
spring 2010, we’ll provide
something for everyone
in “A Family Concert.”
From music originally
heard accompanying classic
cartoons to a “Toy Symphony,”
everyone in the household
will be thrilled. Finally,
our season finale, “A
Motown Tribute” will
recreate music that made
Detroit the music center
of the 60s and 70s.
Enjoy the music!

“Ciao
Italiano” staring mezzo
soprano Lisa Agazzi and
tenor Richard Fracker,
also featuring soprano
Eva Evola and baritone
Dino Valle.
A truly grand celebration
will be presented for
the Macomb Symphony’s
Christmas concert. Hodie
(Latin for “This Day”)
is a masterful cantata
by the English composer,
Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The entire afternoon
will be devoted to this
wonderful and inspiring
telling of the Christmas
story. Joining the Macomb
Symphony will be the
Macomb Concert Choir
and three fine choirs
from Avondale, Dakota
and Chippewa Valley High
Schools. The musical
“narration” will be sung
by the Macomb Children’s
Choir. Featured soloists
include soprano Melissa
Maloney, tenor Aaron
Sanko and baritone Christopher
Vaught.
In the spirit of holiday
giving, the annual MSO
silent auction will be
conducted following the
cantata. The choirs will
also lead the audience
in the singing of traditional
Christmas carols to conclude
the afternoon.
A
“Family Concert” Music
by Benjamin Britten,
Arnold, Haydn and others.
Music from classic Warner
Brothers cartoons will
be heard. Something for
every age and taste.
